Bill Pador > "Gorilla in Our Mist"
10-4-09 - This Beautiful Silver Back Gorilla came up to the plexi glass enclosure to see what I was doing while at the Bronx Zoo which gave me the opportunity to shoot this great portrait of her just before she left to go play with her baby. What an incredible & beautiful animal up close and to experience nature so close up is a wonderful feeling and to know your SAFE with 2" of plexi glass between you is also comforting LOL Since she could probably tear you apart in a matter of seconds.

* PP consisted of minor Level & Curve adjustments and then I used Silver Efex's for the B&W conversion. * Best viewed XL *

Have a Great Week Everyone
PS: I like this shot so much I had it printed on a 16" x 20" to frame on my own wall !

Bill Pador > I saw this cute kitty sitting in a window sill and found it's face very unique & intriguing with her blue eyes and the black LIP LINER like a GRUNGE Cat LOL. I've been very busy trying to get my PP done on those 2 shoots over the weekend and I'm very tired from 4 late nights in a row.

Staying up all night playing the new XBOX 360 game "UFC UNDISPUTED 2009" hasn't helped either. If your a UFC fan I highly recommend this game, it's awesome ! Have a great afternoon guys !

Bill Pador > 5-8-09 My little buddy OREO was helping me hang some pictures today. He climbed up the ladder to take some measurements and then got some treats LOL.
Bill Pador > I stopped by the local horse farm today to hang out for a bit and shoot my buddies. This part Clydesdale is 36 yo according to the ranch hand I spoke with and used to plow the fields across the street from the farm with a mate who has since passed on. She was a great looking horse for her age and didn't mind being photographed at all. Here she is walking towards her water bowl but stopped to "Strike a Pose" for me prior to her drinking.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend guys & gals !

Bill Pador > Well it's late Sunday night and I'm just started to wind down, relax on the couch and read some more of my SB-900 manual. I just took this short a short while ago of my cat Zena who was hanging out on the kitchen table looking cute just begging me to shoot her image so I obliged. Using the SB900 at full power on camera, bounced off the ceiling left you can see the beautiful soft even light across her face and the perfect slight drop off behind her on the wall shades & NO SHADOW bringing her image to the fore front nicely and a great catch light in her bright eyes. No special settings, EV compensation or gels were used BUT I did wanna try the High Speed Sync FP capabilities so I did shoot this at 1/8000 sec. @ f/5.6 ISO 200 zoomed to 170mm from about 6' away to really push the light and boy I was surprised it was DEAD ON with my planned shot and the light is gorgeous IMO & to push through a 1/8000 sec. exposure - "WOW". *(view @ X2-X3 to appeciate fine details in her eyes & face)
- - "Your Opinion & Comments on the lighting appreciated" ! - -

Tomorrow I will start experimenting with some off camera 2 light shots maybe using some interesting macro still life or even some portraits of my kids to put it through it's paces. To be honest it's just a pure joy to use so I'm very happy with the purchase.

To all of you who have to get up early in the morning to WORK your M-F gigs, have a great day - For those of us who don't, Enjoy the extra sleep dreaming about your your next shot !

Bill Pador > This beautiful kitty came out of nowhere while I was shooting at the horse farm to check me out. He was cautious but continued to get closer to me like he wanted his photo taken so I obliged. What beautiful eyes he had and his coat was so silky smooth & shiny. I think they call these RUSSIAN BLUES. I've seen him before at the farm so he must belong there, I tried to get him to come close for me to pet him but that wasn't happening, as soon as I put my hand close to his head he turned around and calmly walked away. I really wanted to touch his coat to see how soft if was. Oh well maybe next time he'll trust me a little more.

I've had a nasty headache for the last 2 days which is very uncommon for me and the weather is rainy which brings on back pain into my titanium spine. I know a few of you suffer from regular migraines (Dave) and let me tell you I would rather suffer from my spinal injury then headaches. You just can't do anything when their bad like this. So I'm off to take some Advil & some coffee for the caffeine and get to some comments I'm 2 days behind on. Enjoy your night everyone.

Bill Pador > Well someone had mentioned wanting to see a shot I took the other day at the Horse Stud Farm I always visit so here is one of them. I was standing about 8' away form this beauty which is my FAVORITE horse there because of his EYES & How Friendly he is. I've been feeding this guy sugar cubes for about 5 years now and never knew his name. One of the care takers was at the farm so I finally found out that this is 'PATCHES' ! His eyes are AWESOME as you can see, and if you look closely you can see my self portrait standing there taking the shot reflecting in his eye on the right side along with the mountains and blue sky inthe background ! *(view at a larger size for better detail)

I have a bunch more shots I will put in my EXTRAS gallery later on today. Hope everyone had a great weekend !

~Bill~
Bill Pador > Well I went with another Seagull shot today this time in flight & in color. Just having fun with my winter friends so why not right ! One thing i like about seagulls is their so used to being around humans you can get quite close to them without them being spooked so they offer excellent close ups. I'm still working on a batch I took of them so I would expect 1 or 2 more at least in my Extras gallery LOL.

Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm still having a bit of discomfort and really have only slept about 4 hours since Monday night. The rainy weather is supposed to pull out so that will help a bunch. So in the mean time I will just play with my Blackberry 'STORM' some more since I'm getting the hang of it now and making use of it's features, what a really cool piece of electronics folks, i HIGHLY recommend getting one if your in the market. Hands down the BEST phone I've ever owned especially if you run a business or studio of your own ! I even figured out a way to put all my blank studio contracts and model releases on it so they can be emailed right from my phone to a client in seconds, Pretty Cool indeed . . .

I'll try to catch up on my comments today, I'm sorry I got 2 days behind but I'm trying guys ;)

Bill Pador > I captured this Red Cardinal yesterday during the snow storm. He kept flying from this tree to my EMPTY bird feeder for about 30 min. I felt so bad that I had no bird feed left and couldn't help him & the other 20+ birds hanging out in my yard in the snow storms heavy winds and blowing snow. I have had this pair of Cardinals coming back each spring for the last 3+ years. I'm so happy he has returned and look forward to the signs of his return signaling that Spring is just around the corner. I'm off to get some bird feed tomorrow so he decides to stay around for a while and not leave for greener pastures LOL. I really liked how the sun reflected off the snow and lit his belly & head colors up like this, he almost looks like he's glowing out there doesn't he ? I only had my 200mm lens on, wish I had switched to my 300 or 500mm to get closer, oh well next time !

I'm so glad my Monopoly shot yesterday brought back so many memories for so many people, that means I did my job right. Have a wonderful Hump Day (Wednesday) everyone !

"ATTENTION CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS"
I have noticed that we have a LOT of people here on the dailies that are either Chronic Pain Patients like myself or have a close family member who suffers from a pain disability. I thought that maybe if there is enough of you interested we could start our own little PAIN SUPPORT GROUP. We could use email on a daily basis where we would all SEND & REPLY to 'ALL RECIPIANTS' when you want to talk to everyone about something, need support, have a question or just want to vent. Then we could also have everyone get a SKYPE account (if you don't have one already) and we could either Audio or Video conference once a week on a week day night that's good for everyone and have a little meeting to do the same. I have belonged to several pain message boards & support groups over the years and find that talking to others in the same situation helps a lot. If you are one of the people who emails me on this subject (you know who you are) or would like to help me start this group, drop me an email at billpador@gmail.com with your interest in this. I think we could really have a good time while helping each other !

Best Regards,
~Bill~
