Bill Pador > Fish Eye Frenzy
10-17-09 Well I finally took the plunge and bought a Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 Fish Eye that I have wanted for a very long time for weddings & landscapes (OK I wanted it for FUN Too) LOL but if I blame it on the business expense it justifies the almost $800 price tag on this little lens. I was out in the field all day with it yesterday after buying it and I had a BLAST ! I knew it was gonna be fun but not nearly as much fun as I had with it already.

I shot this in a open field by my house, my hand is about 3' off the ground and nowhere near the leaf but I was learning how to manipulate the distortion of the lens and came up with this little creative shot.

I'll be using it on a live shoot tonight shooting a rock band client of mine on stage, so I should be able to get some really colorful & creative shots using this bad boy. If you've always wanted a fish eye I say don't wait any more, just go get it, it's THAT MUCH FUN ~!

Have a Great Weekend Everyone !

Bill Pador > Well someone had mentioned wanting to see a shot I took the other day at the Horse Stud Farm I always visit so here is one of them. I was standing about 8' away form this beauty which is my FAVORITE horse there because of his EYES & How Friendly he is. I've been feeding this guy sugar cubes for about 5 years now and never knew his name. One of the care takers was at the farm so I finally found out that this is 'PATCHES' ! His eyes are AWESOME as you can see, and if you look closely you can see my self portrait standing there taking the shot reflecting in his eye on the right side along with the mountains and blue sky inthe background ! *(view at a larger size for better detail)

I have a bunch more shots I will put in my EXTRAS gallery later on today. Hope everyone had a great weekend !

Bill Pador > "Bill's Formal Education"
Shooting since age 12, Bill started his formal education in photography while in high school at age 16 studying basic photography techniques where he was then introduced to 35mm film SLR camera's in 1980. After graduating he continued learning by attending various courses & seminars over vast areas of photography along with taking hundreds of thousands of images while imploring those techniques after being introduced to digital camera's around 1997 which lowered the cost of practicing down to nothing. Shooting landscape, portraits & still life, Bill became very interested in shooting images using various light sources instead of using a simple flash or the sun and started to build his own custom light stages & still life platforms to experiment on the effects of how light affects certain images & situations thus becoming an Expert in the manipulation of light & unique angles to propel himself to a much higher level of creative photography. For this reason Bill has become a highly sought after photographer & artist by demanding clients seeking his unique style of photographic lighting and use of digital software. Knowing how to use light is the key to great photos and Bill has created & mastered his own unique style of capturing light on various platforms propelling his images into a unique category setting him apart from other photographers.

"Instructors - Courses - Seminars"
. . . Bill has attended numerous Photography & Software related Courses & Seminars and has studied under some of the best master photographers & artists in the world. Some of the world class instructors Bill has studied under include . . . :

"Joe McNally" ("Bill's all time Favorite Instructor") Joe is an Internationally acclaimed photographer from the United States and a long time photojournalist. Joe was LIFE magazine's staff photographer, the first one in 23 years. His most well known works was a series he did called 'Faces of Ground Zero', a giant polaroid collection documenting the 9/11 tragedy and was exhibited in 7 cities in 2002 which was seen by over a million people. Joe is known worldwide for his expert use of color & lighting and the ability to complete the most technically & logistically complex assignments. McNally has won numerous awards to include the prestigious Alfred Eisenstadt award for outstanding magazine photography along with Picture of the Year International and the World Press Foundation Award in 1997 placing 1st in Portraits. McNally was 1 or only 10 photographers to be selected worldwide to work on the promotion of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.

"Scott Kelby" Another favorite instructor of Bill's, Kelby is an internationally known & award winning photographer, designer & author along with being the EDITOR & PUBLISHER of 'Photoshop User' & 'Layers' magazines and the President & Co_founder of the *NAPP* National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Kelby has the distinction of being the #1 best selling author of ALL computer & Technology books across all categories. He has also won the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award.

"David Ziser" Ziser is an internationally-renowned & award winning wedding photographer who was described as "wedding photographer extraordinaire." by the Dallas Morning News and is 1 of only 97 photographers worldwide to hold the highest honor of "FELLO" bestowed to him by the American Society of Photographers.

*OTHER World Class Instructors Bill's Had Include *

"Moose Peterson" A Nikon Legend Behind the Lens

"Andy Greenwell" A Lighting "GENEOUS" who is an award winning photographer and cinematographer with six Emmy nominations and two outstanding achievement awards from I.T.V.A.

"Dan Margulis" one of the first three people named to the Photoshop Hall of Fame of the NAPP

"Bert Monroy" Considered one of the pioneers of digital art

"Rick Sammon" World renowned Nature & Travel Photographer

"Eddie Tapp:" Award winning photographer and digital imaging expert

. . . and MANY more ! Bill continues his education & studies for master photographer on a daily basis and attends as many classes & seminars as he can every year in order to stay at the top of his field with all the newest photography & digital art techniques, software and equipment to provide the most unique & very best images possible to his clients.

Bill says "In the age of digital photography there are so many new things developing every day in this field, as a professional photographer you must have a plan for continuous education or you'll be left in the dust, I don't like getting dirty so I learn everything humanly possible to prevent that from happening". "I compare professional photographers to doctors in that we like them are always 'Practicing' the same as in medician. Photopgraphy can never really be fully mastered because you are constantly learning & trying new things. Learning in this profession is half the fun, I figure I have easily shot over a million images in 30 years, another million should allow me to be considered a Master - MAYBE"
Bill Pador > "SEPIA STUD"

I stopped at the horse farm around the corner from my house today because it's a favorite place of mine to visit & shoot. Most of the horses know me very well from visiting there for the last 10 years. It's loaded with male studs and is a very peaceful place for me to gather my thoughts and enjoy the wild life. No matter where I am on the farm property fence when they hear the camera clicking they all come running over to me (I've been know to bear gifts -'bribes' of apple slices or sugar cubes LOL)

I've photographed this guy for the last 3 years or so (I call him 'Big Brown') and this time I managed to get a nice side view of him just a few feet away. The original image was great in color but I wanted to do something special so I did a creative sepia conversion and hoped for good results, I hope you all like it.

PS: To prove that even professionals make mistakes DAILY I just wanted to let you know that I screwed up this entire shoot, I shot all my images at ISO 1000 during a Blazing Sun lit day because I forgot to change my setting from last nights work LOL I should have realized when it was giving me a SS of 1/1600 - 1/2000 every image in AP mode that something was wrong but I didn't realize it till I started looking at the images in Nikon ViewerNX after transfering to the PC ;) Not a huge mistake because I was in AP but had I been in SP it would have provided a boat load of unnessesary noise and a lot of work to remove it from each image.

Image Specs:
Lens: Nikkor 18-200mm @ 200mm
EX: 1/1600
AP: f/5.6
ISO: 1000 (yes 1000 - opps)
WB: Auto

"WORK FLOW"
Image was taken through several steps of work flow starting off in CaptureNX for some minor selective area noise reduction. Then into CS3 for my normal Sharpening routine and then into NIK 'SILVER EFX PRO' (*Fantastice B&W Plug-In set)for the B&W/SEPIA conversion & tweaks. I simulated 'ILFORD DELTA 100 PRO film and used a slight green filter to bring out the darker areas a bit more, then saved full size/full resolution as shot - so I can order a Large High Res Print for myself, this is going to hang on my studio wall!

Bill Pador > "Those Eyes"
details best seen @ size X3
While walking through my kids TV room last night I noticed a great beam of natural sunlight coming through the front window as the sun was going down and then saw my daughter Alexa's eyes catching the light as well. So I made her get off the couch (I know I'm a terrible Dad LOL) and had her stare out of the window. I should have went to get my 50mm Nikkor or 90mm Tamron for this Portrait to get a sharper image but I was lazy and stuck with the 18-200 VR that was on the body but I think it did a fine job, impressed me really. When seen as large as possible you can see each individual eye lash reflected on her retina, pretty cool!

I then hit this with my normal Portraiture work flow & slight glamour treatment, removed a bunch of small hairs in between the nose, shaped her brows and did some very minor burning to bring out her cheek bone a little bit and that's it. The shadow is all natural just using proper exposure settings and shooting tight to prevent any of the background in the room from showing. Alexa's eyes are usually a nice blue but she was wearing a purple shirt which turns them a wild greenish aqua blue seen here. She's my favorite model and loves to have her photo taken so we both make out on the deal whenever I want to do a portrait to keep my skills sharp ;) I like this one so much I'll be ordering it in a large format lustre print or possibly a canvas to hang on my office wall! ~I just love my kids ~
Hope you all like it, Have a Great Day everyone !

PS: This image has been the #1 Rated photo on my site since it's post date. Please click on the 'Green Thumbs Up' sign over the image if you agree to keep it rated #1

Bill Pador > This is my favorite horse at the local stud farm. He's got the most gorgeous eye color containing a vast array of Green, Blue & Yellow/Green which change colors & hue during different light situations. I have been photographing this horse for many years now and he has come to liking me as much as I do him. No matter where on the property he is located he will come running over to me as soon as he hears the camera shutter start clicking away. He enjoys carrots & sugar cubes that I feed him. I liked this shot since it shows his eyes at their best and the bokeh on the background turned out awesome to isolate his face & eyes quite nicely. You can see many other photos of this beautiful horse in my Animal Gallery

Fish Eye Frenzy

10-17-09 Well I finally took the plunge and bought a Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 Fish Eye that I have wanted for a very long time for weddings & landscapes (OK I wanted it for FUN Too) LOL but if I blame it on the business expense it justifies the almost $800 price tag on this little lens.
