Bill Pador > "Happy New Year Everyone"
12-31-08
Well the last posting for 2008 so I thought I would make it interesting. I was playing around with some B&W techniques and stumbled upon making this selective color out of this shot of the woods reflecting in the river. I let some of the sky color bleed into the river against the infrared type B&W scene and then made it float above the frame work and thought it turned out pretty cool so I figured I would post it for my POD today.

I wish you all a very Happy & Prosperous New Year for 2009 and hope all your Dreams come True for the future. It's been a pleasure getting to know all of you who visit my work everyday and I am so happy to have made such a wonderful group of friends & artists. Enjoy your New Year parties and remember to go easy on the spirits tonight LOL Me I don't have to worry, I don't partake in drinking any more :)

For 2009 & All of you here is something I have been saying My whole life, if you work hard enough & aim for your goals:

The Horn Challenge...12/22/08
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of the word, "Horn."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Karina Boese, The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Johnloguk, Lady Kate, MyKey, Karina Boese, Trevlan, and myself.
The Result:"Christmas Horns"
I had decided on a totally different shot for this challenge but due to technical difficulty I was forced to change course. I was going to use my Italian Horn necklace pendant surrounded by gems on a mirror as a macro shot but I couldn't get the clasp undone because it's stuck & bent. It hasn't been off my neck in 8 years (when I had my spinal surgery LOL) so I give you this shot. While scrambling my brain on what to do I thought I would look on my Christmas tree to see if I had any horn ornaments, bravo I did and I choose these 2 to set the shot up. I hung them staggered front to back and used a medium DOF to blur the back one out. I also used a gold ball that has a lot of texture on it to fill the gap in the middle, set a few tree lights in strategic positions to allow for nice shadows & highlights and went for the shot. I got what I needed in 3 takes and then headed for CS3. Adjusted the curve slightly and then applied a few filters in OnOne Photo Tools & NIK Pro Effex, finishing off with sharpening and a custom frame developed in Pro Frames 3.1.

So I was able to finish the challenge and do it with a holiday theme as well. Killed 2 birds with one stone, yea for me LOL.

Bill Pador > "MagicalFloating Train"
I shot this train at the 'USMA West Point' when I was trying to figure out my settings for the crappy light & haze that fell over the POINT that day. In testing I managed to shot this HAPPY ACCIDENT where the wheels of the trucks being towed by the train disappeared making it appear that they were floating on the train beds
