Bill Pador > I caught this moon silhouette last night after seeing how cool the moon light looked creeping through the trees. It looked so eerie to me and reminded me of a horror movie. I shot this hand held bracing it against my knees while sitting on a chair. Then used NIK Silver Efex to convert it to full B&W and adjust the brightness & contrast. Then I added a slight Gaussian blur & hit it with some Imagenomic Noiseware, then finished with a small keyline frame.

Bill Pador > I wanted to do something different with a sunset tonight so I played around making this one a little different by adding an artificial fog cover and then lifting it off the page with a gradient background, drop shadow and ghost frame. I adjusted the contrast & curve, did some selective dodging & burning and a few other touch ups to finish this one off.

Have a happy hump day (Wed.) everyone!

Bill Pador > "Halloween Is Coming"
I shot this building last night because of the eerie feel it had with the moon over the right corner along with the lines & shapes the rail and house had in it. It was shot by laying the camera down on a guardrail and hand holding it for 3 seconds, then I processed it using Topaz Labs Adjust filter giving it the over processed look. Something different but I liked the feel it had to it with the moon and light rays coming off the front of the building lights along with the different colors it had in it.

Hope you all have a great weekend !

Bill Pador > "End of August Sunset"
While out for a walk in my neighborhood last night hunting for a POD I was striking out capturing anything worth while UNTIL I took a turn toward home and saw the sun setting at the end of the street above the ball park. So I headed towards the light and by the time I got there this is what greeted me. I really liked the small blazing orange hole silhouetting the trees and the light rays springing out along the horizon. Funny how this cloud formation was only on the horizon where the sun was setting because there wasn't another cloud in the whole sky elsewhere.

I thought it fitting to end the month of August with a beautiful sunset image to get ready for Septembers fall colors. Hopefully the trees will present some interesting colors again this year since it's my favorite time of the year to shoot out door landscapes.

Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday weekend, enjoy your labor day and all of your end of year BBQ's. Me, I'll be home alone looking for the next POD drinking a nice cup of coffee! ~Thanks for looking~

Bill Pador > It was so interesting & prosperous the last 24 hrs. for photographs for me it was hard to choose what was going up for the POD today. Funny how some days you have NOTHING & others turn out treasure troves. I got some many really good shots but after thinking about it I know everyone loves a good lightning shot so here it is. We had a fantastic storm late last night, the whole house shook & rattled for hours. Funny thing is I sat in my office all night never thinking of setting up the camera until late. This shot was accomplished by setting the D300 on INTERVAL TIMER shots, set shutter for 10 seconds exposure at f/14 ISO 400 and then set to pop every 11 seconds meaning the shutter was only closed for 1 second then opened for 10 again until 99 frames were shot (doing the math that's 1 capture every 11 seconds for 15 min. worth of work), manual focus to infinity. This was one of the better ones since the lightning crossed the whole sky and filled the frame nicely so here it is. *From what's in the news today one of the these strikes killed 1 person and injured 2 on Sandy Hook beach and 5 mor epeople struck in Hicksville NY just north of here so I better start being more careful with this stuff ;)

I have a TON of great Squirrel shots and also some interesting ACTION shots while I was driving and snapping the shots off while moving LOL (Don't worry I was TRAINED to do these kinds of things while moving) and I'm very safe about it, always have at least one hand on the wheel using continuous focus and the steering wheel as a tripod. So I'll put those together later in my overflow gallery or the animal gallery to show off, some real quality shots (if I don't say so myself LOL) but i think you'll like them (Especially MOM4SQUIRRELS who gave me the inspiration for the images).

BTW: For those of you who registered to vote for my images in the NJ Photo Contest (THANK YOU SO MUCH) and I wanted to tell you I submitted a few more images so if you have time to stop over and drop another couple votes I would be thrilled. The link is here GREAT DESTINATIONS NJ just seach my name, you may leave comments as well, from what I understand in the rules they HELP a lot since it's a PUBLIC VOTE contest along with clikcing on I LOVE IT tab before voting the I DIG IT tab ;) Thanks guys !

Hope everyone had a great weekend, sorry most of you will return to work tomorrow - Ahh this is where being retired & your own boss is NICE ;)

Bill Pador > Not knowing what I was going to do for my POTD shot tonight mother nature helped me make my decision by creating a small lightning storm for me to shoot. I went out to my back deck, set up for a 20 second shot @ f/11 ISO 800 and just kept pressing the shutter button every 20 sec. I was able to grab 2 really good shots in 30 min. or so while hanging out in the rain with my umbrella over my gear. (my neighbor yelled to me that I was crazy go inside LOL) but I had to get the shoot, a photographers last words right! Shooting weather is not my fortee but I've been trying to get a decent lightining shot for a few years, it's about time I was rewarded for my efforts and just by luck I came out of my studio office to grab a smoke out side & stretch my legs.

If you look dead center you can see the lightning bolt makes a hasty turn toward my neighbors satellite dish to ground itself. The photo has not been touch for the exception of a small crop on the right side of some dead space.
