Bill Pador > I stopped by the local horse farm today to hang out for a bit and shoot my buddies. This part Clydesdale is 36 yo according to the ranch hand I spoke with and used to plow the fields across the street from the farm with a mate who has since passed on. She was a great looking horse for her age and didn't mind being photographed at all. Here she is walking towards her water bowl but stopped to "Strike a Pose" for me prior to her drinking.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend guys & gals !

Bill Pador > Well it's late Sunday night and I'm just started to wind down, relax on the couch and read some more of my SB-900 manual. I just took this short a short while ago of my cat Zena who was hanging out on the kitchen table looking cute just begging me to shoot her image so I obliged. Using the SB900 at full power on camera, bounced off the ceiling left you can see the beautiful soft even light across her face and the perfect slight drop off behind her on the wall shades & NO SHADOW bringing her image to the fore front nicely and a great catch light in her bright eyes. No special settings, EV compensation or gels were used BUT I did wanna try the High Speed Sync FP capabilities so I did shoot this at 1/8000 sec. @ f/5.6 ISO 200 zoomed to 170mm from about 6' away to really push the light and boy I was surprised it was DEAD ON with my planned shot and the light is gorgeous IMO & to push through a 1/8000 sec. exposure - "WOW". *(view @ X2-X3 to appeciate fine details in her eyes & face)
- - "Your Opinion & Comments on the lighting appreciated" ! - -

Tomorrow I will start experimenting with some off camera 2 light shots maybe using some interesting macro still life or even some portraits of my kids to put it through it's paces. To be honest it's just a pure joy to use so I'm very happy with the purchase.

To all of you who have to get up early in the morning to WORK your M-F gigs, have a great day - For those of us who don't, Enjoy the extra sleep dreaming about your your next shot !

Bill Pador > Well today's the big Fashion Show and I have hired a young Apprentice / Intern to help me out with this one. There's a young 17yo lad who lives next door whom I've known since he was a 4yo baby and is practicing to become a professional photographer and he had inquired in the past about working for me. so I decided to give him a chance tonight as a second shooter and to have a second set of hands to set up the portrait studio since we have only have 30 MINUTES to shoot 48 Senior Portraits during intermission, this should be FUN !

My apprentice TIM WRCHOL is a very knowledgeable young shooter who attends the high school we'll be shooting at. I spoke with him in depth yesterday during a 2 hour meeting while we went over my plan of attack for this shoot and I was very impressed with his knowledge. So needless to say i feel very comfortable in his abilities to assist me and feel good that I am giving back to the photography community by taking him under my wing. Hopefully some day he will go on to become quite a photographer in his own right and I can say that I helped train him in some ways. I wouldn't just take anyone to teach at this point and feel that the interview I gave him yesterday was a good one, he passed with flying colors IMO. He seems very eager to do the job and hopefully we'll both have lots of fun tonight. It's going to be a long night starting at 5pm with set up plans and then going from 7:30-9:30 on the first part of the show, then into the portrait studio for the Senior shots and then back onto the stage for the second half of the show. I figure by the time it's done with we'll have over 3000+ images to go through and process.

Todays Shot: Once again I present this cool kitty named "Fussy" who is a really cool cat. I just wish I could steal him for myself LOL He's that nice to be around. Very loving cat who has the softest coat, the coolest markings & gorgeous eyes.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, the weekend is here folks, so have fun !

Bill Pador > This is My cat Oreo taking a drink from the water cooler. He taught himself this move and is quite good at it. He presses the lever with just enough pressure to start the flow of water and doesn't waist a drop while getting a cold drink! PS: He's not really balding on top of his head, just the angle I shot this made his hair look thin for some reason LOL

WARNING: "RANT BELOW"
So last night was the good old bring in the new year festivities. When I got home I planned on hitting the sack and getting some shut eye, seems my body had other ideas possibly because of this extremely windy & cold weather here in NJ with temps below zero instead of me being in sunny Florida basking in the sun and the titanium screws in my spine decided to act like they owned the playing field and incited a riot. In plain English, I'm in a lot of pain and couldn't sleep LOL. Not a big deal as I live with this every day of my life and no need to worry but I had to do something to keep my mind busy so off I went into PS Land to play ball.

Unfortunately I could not concentrate which in turn makes an artist get a major case of creative block the size of Manhattan so this is all I could come up with for my introduction to 2009. I sat in my still life studio shooting all kinds of things and nothing seemed to work, it was crazy really. More like aggravating to say the least, everything I shot went in the trash bin and I mean EVERYTHING! I know you have all had days like this and it's never easy to swallow no matter what the reason. Well I'm sorry for ranting so much but I just had to get that off my chest and I figure what are friends for right?

This shot of my female cat Zena was taken on the dining room table, right next to the napkin holder. So a little crop was in order LOL. Then I played around with some ideas and this was the result. Sorry it couldn't be more but I'm just glad I was able to put SOMETHING together for today's POD. I've learned to deal with adversity and know that Tomorrow will be a better day without a doubt. I'll end this by saying "REACH FOR THE STARS BABY" !

I hope you all had a fun evening bringing in the new year and everyone arrived back home safe & sound.

Bill Pador > Forget about the 'Cat in the Hat' how about the 'Cat in the Christmas Tree' ? This is my buddy Oreo who has seen it necessary to climb up into the Christmas tree before the decorations have been put on it yesterday. I grabbed the camera after my daughter yelled for me to capture this. I was originally going to use this for my Challenge as Oreo going into the PLAIN Christmas tree but I decided to post this today and do something else for tomorrows challenge. I really liked the Shadow of him and the one ear shadow looks like his second ear of the picture itself. He is a real joker and thought this was funny and it is until the glass bulbs start falling off while he climbs up in the middle of the night which begin crashing & breaking on the floor, then it's not funny! LOL PS: It took him over 10 min. to finally figure out how to get down after this shot, he was very nervous trying to get down and I allowed it so that maybe he will not go back into it, doubt if it works though, he's like a kid that never learns his lesson LOL

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday,
Bill
