The Reflection Challenge...01/05/09
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of the word, "Reflection."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), Karina Boese, The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Johnloguk, Lady Kate, MyKey, Karina Boese, Trevlan, MSpencer, and myself.
The Result: "Reflection of My 2 Sides"

This Self Portrait image was born with the idea of showing my 2 personalities which are the serious business side and the wild, free artistic side. As you all know I'm not one for being on this side of the camera too much but once in a while I feel it's not only my responsibility to join the model side but it's also KINDA fun. I'm always the one at the party or vacation TAKING the pictures but never seem to be IN any of them documenting my place in history so I decided to use this challenge to document a little history at this point in my life. ON the left wearing a Nikon hat & reading glasses represents my serious business side along with the deep involved artist who's passion for photography is nothing short of an obsession. On the right I like to be free, wild and always taking risky chances to allow the other side of my artistic abilities to show and with the mixture of the 2 I become a whole person, blending the 2 halfs together to become who I really am, an artist, photographer, father and middle aged man who has goals & dreams that are still on the horizon ! Thanks for reading & viewing my REFLECTION Challenge image today, it was a LOT of fun and gave me a chance to show & tell a little of who I really am ;)

THE SHOOT: This was created using 2 images taken in the same exact spot, standing as still as possible to change props and then blending the 2 together in layers and masking 1/2 image out for the other on top. The camera is set on a tripod off to the right of the mirror using a remote release, (*the mirror wall is at 45' angle to the camera). Then after 1st shot was taken trying not to move I changed props and shot a 2nd image. This is a TRUE reflection shot and has not been altered in any other way except blending the 2 shots together. A faded white custom vignette was added and then the frame with white keyline, DONE! Total time 38 min. including the shoot which was done in TWO FRAMES oh and a cigarette break!

PS: I put this up a few hours early in case I fall asleep later, I'm bushed LOL

Bill Pador > Another HAPPY ACCIDENT! I took this while driving last night and didn't see the awesome sun rays & lens flare coming through my sun roof until I looked at it in CS3 just now. Some small adjustments to levels & exposure were needed to lighten it up a bit so I could be seen clearly but that's about it.

"RECENT SPAM": I was wondering if anyone else is getting that SPAM left in your Dailies gallery comment area the past few days ? How aggravating to have to delete this junk every day. I hope SmugMug gets these guys under control before we get flooded with junk, I'm going to be making a complaint about it later tonight :(
Bill Pador > "In Through The Out Door"
To start off my 6th month here at the Dailies community I felt like toying around with the David Hill processed look so I did a SP (another milestone) with me grabbing a soda out of the fridge and shot it from the INSIDE of the fridge to give it a little creativity. I laid some texture down on the canvas along with a ton of processing, vignette blur, drop shadow and well just a whole bunch of stuff LOL So this is what I look like when I'm reaching into the fridge from the milks view ;)

The camera was laid inside the fridge with a small milk carton holding up the lens and set on a 5 sec. delay 1/125 with constant focusing at f/6.3 to ensure I had enough DOF.

It's been a great 6 months here and I look forward to many more with all of you who have become my very good friends. I wish to Thank You all for your constant support and inspiration and for sharing all of your wonderful work with me as well. You all have helped drive my creativity to new levels everyday benefiting my art & mind.

So Have a great day everyone & Thanks for all the warm comments on the Lily shots yesterday !

Your Dailies Friend

Bill Pador > "From Dusk Till Dawn"
OK I broke down and finally felt the courage to do a semi proper SP since my buddy John (You know who you are LOL) pounded us with a few SP's in recent days. This is my interpretation of a Self Portrait 'MUG SHOT' layout depicting me in a duel format of Dusk Till Dawn (a favorite movie of mine as well) with the left one showing me after a hard day behind the shutter and the right showing what a fresh razor & some hair gel can do for this photographer LOL.

PP consists of some slight portrait softening (glamour treatment - I can use all the help I can get) and then running it through Alien Skins B&W Film plug-in using 'Ilford SFX 200' B&W film (grain off) and a split frame. So there it is, I've done my SP part for the year so don't ask for another one or I'll be forced to run away to Alaska for a few short months to bury my head in the snow until it thaws in the spring time. Thanks for forcing this upon me John, no further inspiration for SP's is needed from you now buddy !!! LOL Have a great day folks

PS: I took SUNITA's suggestion & entered this image into the DGrin SP Contest, Ugg what was I thinking LOL??? Wish me luck ;) . . .Contest has now passed. . . .
