Bill Pador > Good Afternoon all, boy it's been a busy past few days for me in a good way. The phone has been ringing off the hook and I've booked the next 6 weekends solid (a good thing lol) So business has really picked up since Spring started, not surprising since it did the same last year at the same time. I just threw this shot together to get something up today, I bought a bouquet of flowers the other day to shoot and didn't have much time to play with them before they started to die.

I placed my order for the Nikon SB-900 flash today and should have it by Friday morning depending on when the UPS guy decides to show up. I went to my local photo store to check it out the other day and I must say it is a BIG flash but have read nothing but good things about it. For anyone looking to purchase one, I went with B&H Photo (NY City) because they have it for $449 and $10 S&H NO TAX where ADAROMA Photo has it for the same price, Free S&H but are now charging TAX to NJ residents for some reason which was another $31.50 so I saved $21 going with B&H my prefered store anyway. I'll give a review of it some time next week after using it for a few days to those who were interested.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my Soldiers Shadow shot from yesterday, I had no idea it would be enjoyed so much by everyone!

Have a Great Day !

Bill Pador > "The Haunted House"
I've been driving by this eerie old barn / storage facility for many years now and was finally able to get a shot of it. I love the texture of the old shingles and roof. The problem was that it's located on a busy street where there is no where to pull off to shoot it. So I took matters into my own hands and shot it while DRIVING ! Yes I know it's not safe but I was slowed to about 10mph, stuck the D300 out the window and fired 2 frames, both of which were centered nicely. I had to rotate it slightly and also remove the ugly For Sale sign that was in the middle of the shot though, Any Takers? LOL. Then I used a custom setting I made in NIK Silver Efex Pro to give it a B&W/Sepia look and brought out the textures a bit.

The weather here in NJ is COLD COLD just bitterly COLD! Present temperature is 8' with a wind chill of -4'F and let me tell you this is the WARMEST it's supposed to be this week. Temps are due to drop into the -15' to -20'F with the wind chill in the next 4 days and their waning folks to stay inside as frost bite can be had in less the 15 min. on uncovered skin. I guess I'll be firing up the fire place and staying inside with the still life studio for a while LOL.

PS: Oh BTW Voting for my Contest Image will be starting sometime TODAY or TOMORROW latest as I've been told, I'll post as soon as the images are available for voting - Thanks to all who took the time to register & post 5 times to help me out at www.photographycorner.com !
Stay warm folks and enjoy your Hump Day !

Bill Pador > I have these dried flowers set behind my Tiki Bar for many years now and never took the time to shoot them until now. I was WONDERING around the house trying to shoot something for my POD like a lost soul due to the nasty weather we've been getting and I clicked off a few frames on this one and when I saw it in the LCD I couldn't believe how cool it looked so off to finish it I went. I've been playing around with B&W, Sepia and Selective color a LOT the past few weeks so I wanted to continue using it now. I love the dramatic results you can get when you go colorless. This was shot with my Tamron 90mm Di Macro and once again it proves why it's one of the hottest macro lenses out there right now. The Sharpness, DOF & Bokeh that comes out of this glass never ceases to amaze me.

I've been noticing a LOT of NEW Daily group contributers lately, seems as if 2009 has generated new found inspiration for POTD projects which is very exciting to see. It Seems Smug is running slow today as this small file took almost a minute to upload where usually it would have taken seconds. Hopefully navigating won't take forever since I wanna see every one's galleries today and don't feel like waiting for the pages to load, we'll see !
It's snowing here and it's supposed to drop 10" of the white stuff AGAIN, I'm getting tired of snow I really am, thank goodness for snow blowers LOL.

Have a Great weekend everyone,

Bill Pador > "Horse Farm"
I've been really busy with some personal stuff so I grabbed one out of the archives from the fall. I shoot this at my favorite horse farm around the corner from my house and since I have been playing a lot with B&W and Sepia's the last few days I figured I would develop this one into an antique sepia with selective color and use some burning & dodging techniques to bring all of the detail into play to really make it pop. I couldn't resist bringing the rusted fence back in color, it had some really cool texture to it.

Thanks for everyone who has signed up at www.photographycorner.com and made your 5 posts so that your ready to vote for my image next week. If you want to help me out and haven't signed up yet please see the intructions posted on yesterdays POD. Hopefully this will be my year to take a prize home, I could really use it ;)

Best Regards,
~Bill~

Bill Pador > This is a shot of my beautiful Niece (L) and my Oldest Daughter (R) who FINALLY let me snap her portrait. I have shared many shots of my youngest daughter (who is my favorite model) in the past because she has no fear of having her photo snapped but my oldest has been a normal 15 yo teenager and every single frame I have of her in the last few years had a hand in her face or goofy expression. But I think that her Christmas gift of getting her braces off on Christmas Eve. (they were on for 32 months) has given her a new found freedom and joy to SMILE once again and she granted me my Christmas wish of taking her picture without all the moaning or silliness, "Thanks Jac! You made your dad VERY happy . . ."

I converted this one into a sepia with light vignette using Nik Silver Efex Pro. Just a few clicks here & there along with a ghost frame & key line then it was done.
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend, I'm just relaxing and playing with some images today, to me that's all the joy I need!

Bill Pador > "Have a Nice Day"
I was so happy with my crayon image yesterday that I wanted to play around again with them. This time I decided to do an art deco piece using hand painted selective color, grain and B&W w/tone added. I did so much to this image I couldn't begin to describe in detail but in the end I wanted to add a personal touch and have some fun with it so that's where the Hand Drawn Happy Face in the middle comes from, I wanted it to look like it was done with a crayon.

Tonight I added (2) Gigs of RAM to my work station machine and boy having 4 gigs now this thing FLYS! No more bogging down when multiple images are open or when you apply a filter it no longer puts up a time line waiting for it to finish processing. Memory is so cheap these days (I got 2 gigs for $37 from www.CRUCIAL.com) which is a great deal and only $3.99 S&H which they sent FedEx 2 day Express and was here FAST. If your looking to upgrade your machine now is the time to do it and it's worth every penny. I can't wait to see how fast it runs LightRoom 2 when I'm processing hundreds of images from a job ;) "Have A Nice Day" everyone ;)
