Bill Pador > I captured this Red Cardinal yesterday during the snow storm. He kept flying from this tree to my EMPTY bird feeder for about 30 min. I felt so bad that I had no bird feed left and couldn't help him & the other 20+ birds hanging out in my yard in the snow storms heavy winds and blowing snow. I have had this pair of Cardinals coming back each spring for the last 3+ years. I'm so happy he has returned and look forward to the signs of his return signaling that Spring is just around the corner. I'm off to get some bird feed tomorrow so he decides to stay around for a while and not leave for greener pastures LOL. I really liked how the sun reflected off the snow and lit his belly & head colors up like this, he almost looks like he's glowing out there doesn't he ? I only had my 200mm lens on, wish I had switched to my 300 or 500mm to get closer, oh well next time !

I'm so glad my Monopoly shot yesterday brought back so many memories for so many people, that means I did my job right. Have a wonderful Hump Day (Wednesday) everyone !

"ATTENTION CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS"
I have noticed that we have a LOT of people here on the dailies that are either Chronic Pain Patients like myself or have a close family member who suffers from a pain disability. I thought that maybe if there is enough of you interested we could start our own little PAIN SUPPORT GROUP. We could use email on a daily basis where we would all SEND & REPLY to 'ALL RECIPIANTS' when you want to talk to everyone about something, need support, have a question or just want to vent. Then we could also have everyone get a SKYPE account (if you don't have one already) and we could either Audio or Video conference once a week on a week day night that's good for everyone and have a little meeting to do the same. I have belonged to several pain message boards & support groups over the years and find that talking to others in the same situation helps a lot. If you are one of the people who emails me on this subject (you know who you are) or would like to help me start this group, drop me an email at billpador@gmail.com with your interest in this. I think we could really have a good time while helping each other !

Best Regards,
~Bill~
Bill Pador > 3/2/09 - Just a quick snap shot out my back door to show my friend "KRE8IVE" what 14.8" of snow looks like compared to her 2.5" she got down south LOL We had 2.5" an HOUR at certain points during this Nor'Easter - Tell you what Kathleen, I'll TRADE YA !
Bill Pador > "Blowing in the Wind" A shot of my neighbors basketball hoop that has taken some abuse during our many snow storms with the net showing wear & tears while it blows in the wind. This image has been post processed & tone mapped as a single frame HDR (*High Dynamic Ranging) photo to bring out the textures, colors, light & shadows.
Bill Pador > In Post processing I gave this image my custom mix of Soft Focus & Orton effect that I've found quite attractive using the proper image. It also shows 2 different levels of sky blue colors and how a SUN DIAL works pointing towards 2pm when this shot was taken. Pretty cool indeed LOL
Bill Pador > I caught this shadow of my car in the driveway and thought it was pretty cool to see the blue tint color of the safety glass being thrown on the snow. I converted the main image into a grainy B&W then brought the color of the glass back to enhance it's presents.

I GOT A NEW TOY: Hope everyone is having a great weekend, me I'm spending mine setting up my brand new Epson Artisan 800 photo printer! It uses the new Claria High Def pigment inks and let me tell you so far the images are printing with incredible color & detail and talk about BLAZING SPEED, a full border-less 5x7 with bleed takes less then 90 seconds and look better then lab prints. So far I'm loving it and plan on printing all afternoon some new stuff for my portfolio. Oh and try printing custom labels directly on CD/DVD too for some clients, how cool. UPDATE: I just found out that Best Buy (where I bought the printer) put it on sale today for $229, I paid $299 yesterday and they will refund $70 if I bring my receipt in - Very Cool !

The Fashion Show shoot went great on Friday night, my intern assistant Tim turned out to be quite an asset to me and was a fantastic worker & shooter. Not your normal lazy 17 yo teenager but worked his butt off and didn't have to be told much of anything, he just did it on his own. I will have no problem hiring him for future work and look forward to working with him again. I think he learned a lot and told me had had a lot of fun which is key!

~Bill~
Bill Pador > Good Morning Everyone, First I'd like to take a moment to say THANK YOU for all of your wonderful prayers, well wishes, comments & emails yesterday reference my not feeling well. It over whelms me with the support & personal messages that you all have sent me in my time of need and honestly you are the best damn group of friends a guy could ever have. Unfortunately the injuries, disabilities & chronic pain that I deal with on a daily basis are sometimes very hard to deal with physically & emotionally and can really kick a man hard, but when you have such good friends & fellow artists that honestly care about you it REALLY HELPS A LOT ~! To be quite honest when I started reading all the comments it brought a tear to my eye knowing that I wasn't alone in my fight but also to read that so many of you also deal with chronic pain or have someone close to you that suffers from this. No matter how tough life can be it's always easier when you have some sort of support group be it family or friends and you have all made me feel very loved & cared about and for that I can't thank you enough, so from me to you I say THANK YOU !

Now - I had an interesting past 12 hours, as my no frills image out my front door shows we got about 4" of snow over night SO FAR with another 3"-4" expected all day long. But the most fun came at about 10:30pm last night while I was sitting in front of my computer in my basement office when my house began to SHAKE & RATTLE - Because we had a 3.0 "EARTHQUAKE" centered about 15 miles from my home right here in NJ !!! Yup my 1st FELT Earthquake at age 44 and it was a small one but it sure scared the crap out of me when stuff moved across my desk and ceiling panels moved for a few seconds. I first thought a bomb went off close by but soon found out it was a Quake after I dialed 911 to report the blast and was told what had happened and all was safe LOL. I felt a little stupid for calling but the news is reporting that 100's of people called in the same thing so I wasn't alone LOL. No damage & no injuries just a really weird feeling that I don't wish to repeat anytime soon ;)

Hope you all have a Wonderful & Productive day and I promise to catch up on my comments in the next day since I am feeling about 70% today and SHOULD be 100% by tomorrow and can concentrate on getting back to my normal routine. May God Bless ALL of You, You guys ROCK !!!

Bill Pador > "The Red Barn"
Using the new version of Topaz Adjust 2.6 this red barn found new life. I love the textures & colors this software put out and makes it so easy to grab the Dave Hill look. I found this old barn on the way to drop something off to my daughter at school and stopped in the middle of the street to shoot it LOL. It's actually in someones front yard. We're getting ready for ANOTHER snow storm tomorrow bearing gifts of 6"8" of the white stuff, boy am I tired of this !

Enjoy your Day,
~Bill~
Bill Pador > I was on a landscape shoot yesterday driving around town looking for new things to capture when I passed this old church that I've seen many times and stopped to shoot it out the car window. This image was actually shot in "Broad Daylight" and then brought into LightRoom 2 for some magic.

I took the exposure down, brought up the blacks and applied some custom filters I've developed to get it down to a night scene. Then I used the new brush tool (which is very cool BTW) and painted over the areas I wanted to bring the exposure back up on. Selecting the church itself and then the wiggle pattern of snow in front of the walk way. Then touching a small amount of snow on the mountain in the background to give it some depth. Then I dropped in to CS3 and used the NIK Color Efexs Pro WHITE NEUTRALIZER to isolate the white of the building & snow to give it a more balanced color & tone along with making the snow cold with a blue hue. Finished off with a Key Line frame.

I have a bunch of other shots I took yesterday that turned out good and so many others I've taken this winter that I'll post in a new 'Winter Landscape '09 Gallery' that I'm making now, I'll announce when it's up and ready to be viewed.

**PS: Thanks for the comments on yesterdays abstract & smug problems. I still can't get my cookies to work, hopefully they'll fix that soon :(

***Some Good News*** I was contacted yesterday by the local High School who are interested in me shooting their Junior Classes Semi-Formal event & portrait session in May. I have to put a bid in for Monday & hopefully I'll win the contract. That would be a great gig to do, I enjoy doing those kinds of events and doing all those portraits would be awesome. Keep your fingures crossed for me ;) I already have the contract for their annual Fashion Show which is in 2 weeks for the 2nd year in a row!

Bill Pador > "The Haunted House"
I've been driving by this eerie old barn / storage facility for many years now and was finally able to get a shot of it. I love the texture of the old shingles and roof. The problem was that it's located on a busy street where there is no where to pull off to shoot it. So I took matters into my own hands and shot it while DRIVING ! Yes I know it's not safe but I was slowed to about 10mph, stuck the D300 out the window and fired 2 frames, both of which were centered nicely. I had to rotate it slightly and also remove the ugly For Sale sign that was in the middle of the shot though, Any Takers? LOL. Then I used a custom setting I made in NIK Silver Efex Pro to give it a B&W/Sepia look and brought out the textures a bit.

The weather here in NJ is COLD COLD just bitterly COLD! Present temperature is 8' with a wind chill of -4'F and let me tell you this is the WARMEST it's supposed to be this week. Temps are due to drop into the -15' to -20'F with the wind chill in the next 4 days and their waning folks to stay inside as frost bite can be had in less the 15 min. on uncovered skin. I guess I'll be firing up the fire place and staying inside with the still life studio for a while LOL.

PS: Oh BTW Voting for my Contest Image will be starting sometime TODAY or TOMORROW latest as I've been told, I'll post as soon as the images are available for voting - Thanks to all who took the time to register & post 5 times to help me out at www.photographycorner.com !
Stay warm folks and enjoy your Hump Day !
