Bill Pador > "Another Day Goes Away"
10-21-09 / I shot this sunset this evening at one of my favorite spots for sunsets, The Rockaway Mall Parking lot LOL. It may be funny but I have known since 1990 when I lived just across the street 200' from here and had a deck off my kitchen that faced this very mountain giving me the exact view you are seeing now and I used to sit on the deck every night waiting for this scene. Just having this view increased the value of my town house 10's of thousands of dollars when it came time to sell it. The deck & this view were my favorite part of living there. This image is almost SOTC with the exception of the long crop, basic sharpening & frame. Enjoy it my friends !

PS: Thanks for all the wonderful comments the past few days on my Fish Eye Lens series !

Bill Pador > Happy Hump Day Everyone, Sorry I've been MIA for a few days, i just haven't been feeling well and needed a few days rest but I'm up & around again for the exception of still being really tired so I fired up a hot cup of coffee so I can sit down, relax and visit some of your dailies so I can catch up on my back log. The weather here has been, well simply put Awful! Raining for the lat 4 days with 2-3 more days like it still on tap, chilly, damp and dark. So looks like the next few days dailies will be still life projects, that's once I figure out what I want to shoot LOL

I hope you all have been having a good week, personally I'm looking forward to some better weather so I can get myself over to the Bronx and visit the Zoo for some Gorilla shots. I've been excited to visit the Bronx Zoo since last fall when I went. Hopefully I'll get some better conditions this time around with more sun & better lighting for the colorful bird shots. The Gorilla exhibit is what I'm looking forward to most though, they were one of the most incredible & fascinating animals to watch & photograph I've experienced in my entire career. I could sit & watch them for hours.

I took this shot from my front porch, the image really doesn't even do the sky justice as it looked in person was even more vivid & moody.

Enjoy your day folks, it's great to be back from my 4 day Missing In Action Tour, even my Mom was worried about my lack of posts LOL - So this is for you Mom ;)

Bill Pador > "Deep Orange Glow"
I shot this from my front porch During an approaching storm the other night the sun started going down and the colors were bleeding through the storm clouds creating an awesome sky. I shot a hand held 3 frame bracket -1, 0, +1 then brought it into Photomatix to create an HDR, Tone Mapped it and then into CS3 where I adjusted Levels, Curves, Contrast. Then into NIK Color Efex to boost Pro contrast and then finished it off with Imagenomic Noiseware and keyline frame. I just wish I would have grabbed my tripod to make things easier in blending mode but it came out pretty good for hand held anyway.

The Smiling Joe Project is coming along nicely, I've been busy putting together all the logistics of the plan and should be sending out another email to everyone in the next few days with more updates and how this will work for everyone. Don't worry, it's a simple process for you all and nothing but fun involved, it's me who is tearing his hair out right now LOL Not really it's not that bad, just a lot of paper work (which I hate) but once it's all done it will run like clock work (I hope LOL) IN the mean time I've been able to recruit 2 more countries, India & Australia to his overseas adventure. So as of now he will be traveling to "7" different countries on 4 different continents, not bad ! Thanks for every one's participation, I'm VERY excited about the whole thing.

Have a Great Evening Everyone,
~Bill~
Bill Pador > "Looking Up To The Heavens"

 The Looking Up Challenge...02/16/09
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of "Looking Up."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, MSpencer, Trevlan, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: As soon as the theme of Looking Up came to light I knew exactly what I wanted to use for this. Since I was very busy this week with client shoots and spending countless hours in the digital dark room I chose to use this shot that I felt deserved to be viewed because of it's bold look. This church was processed as a single frame HDR, using Photomatix to process the original image, then tone mapped. It was then brought into CS3 where I began to Dodge & Burn certain areas to bring out the contrast, boost color & adjust curves. Although I'm not a very religious man, the final piece gave me an over whelming feeling of looking up into the heavens with a peaceful relaxation and I especially enjoyed the lens flare glowing on the cross on the front of the building. Hope you all have a wonderful week and remember to stop along the way to look to the heavens to make all your dreams come true.

Best Regards,
~Bill Pador~
Bill Pador > "Sun-Rays Shine Down"
Evening Folks, I caught these sun rays shining down out of the sky yesterday while picking my daughter up from school. I applied a few bi-colored filters to it and turned it into a oil painting. I liked the colors and lines in it so I decided to post it as a good luck piece for everyone this weekend.

I'm packing my gear up for a trip to NY City in a few hours to photograph & document the raising of the "MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON" jet airliner that went down yesterday for the local news paper. I don't have any press credentials for this from the paper since I'm going as a freelance but I'm hoping my retired police ID will get me close to the action after talking to a few fellow officers ;) Hopefully I'll be able to get some good captures to bring back and create a gallery to share with all of you, so keep your fingers crossed. Oh and yes I have plenty of HOT TOES & HAND heating pads to keep warm, plus my heavy leather jacket, scarf, gloves & hat will be part of my wardrobe LOL. I might even take a few SP's so you can see me freezing LOL.

I was hoping to shoot it from Weehawken NJ pier where the Ferries that rescued everyone dock but the plane floated 3 miles down river now and will have to enter the city to get close enough, even with the 800mm lens I have it just won't cut it. Amazing how the pilot was able to land on water and keep everyone alive, a miracle in my book that's for sure. They announced that they will be raising her out of the sea at 10am so I'll be off at 4:30am to avoid any morning rush hour traffic (which starts about 5:30am) and try to get a good piece of real estate to set my gear up on in order to record a little history, I'm only 35 min. from the city. Since a water landing with no death or even injuries has never occurred I would say it's an important event.

I'll be posting the images (if I get some) as soon as I return later this afternoon, hopefully in VICTORY !

UPDATE **** I'M BACK, It's a LONG "But VERY Interesting" Story which I'll write tomorrow, Good thing is I DID get SOME images that should be pretty cool of the plane crash AND some Awesome Surise hour shots of the city scape & surrounding area! Bad thing is I couldn't wait any longer for them to pull it out, I was there 12 hours and they still didn't START! They're having problems lifting the ICE flooded 1,000,000 lb. plane out. It was 'OMG' COLD and my spine couldn't take any more. I'll be working on the gallery Images RIGHT NOW and will post when it's done in a few hours, I have (3) 8 Gig & (3) 4 Gig cars to go thru, TTYS!

PS: Thanks for all your WONDERFUL comments on my rope image yesterday !

Bill Pador > "End of August Sunset"
While out for a walk in my neighborhood last night hunting for a POD I was striking out capturing anything worth while UNTIL I took a turn toward home and saw the sun setting at the end of the street above the ball park. So I headed towards the light and by the time I got there this is what greeted me. I really liked the small blazing orange hole silhouetting the trees and the light rays springing out along the horizon. Funny how this cloud formation was only on the horizon where the sun was setting because there wasn't another cloud in the whole sky elsewhere.

I thought it fitting to end the month of August with a beautiful sunset image to get ready for Septembers fall colors. Hopefully the trees will present some interesting colors again this year since it's my favorite time of the year to shoot out door landscapes.

Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday weekend, enjoy your labor day and all of your end of year BBQ's. Me, I'll be home alone looking for the next POD drinking a nice cup of coffee! ~Thanks for looking~

Bill Pador > "Mighty Reds"
best viewed large
While on my nature walk I managed to find this huge clump of massive Red trees which are not that common around these parts. So I decided to capture them and see how it would look looking straight up through them. I had my 18-200mm on but I wish I had something wider or a fish eye for this one, maybe next time. It still came out like I thought it would and I'm really happy I found this growth of trees because they are really cool. I'm sure in other parts of the country these are plentiful but not here, matter of fact this is possibly the only time I have ever seen them here. Another good thing about this image is that I was able to get farther under them due to me shooting from a ditch giving a little more depth to the image.

In post I enhanced the sun rays, pumped up the contrast a little bit and gave it a frame to match the mood.
EDIT: Camel - The sun rays were produced by a Cokin Sun Ray Filter that disfusses the rays and then I also enhanced them in CS3 bringing them out more!

Have a great day everyone
