Bill Pador > 8-27-09 This is a (3) Frame Hand held HDR shot of the Bridge I shot yesterdays lake image from pointing in the same direction where the storm was coming in from over the mountains (Best Viewed Large). The image was shot as a (3) Frame -1_0_+1 exposure while supported & braced on a guard rail. The images were then combined and aligned in "Photomatix Pro 3" and then Tone Mapped. The HDR gives you an idea of how violent the incoming storm was which dumped approx. 2" of rain on me 10 min. later in a matter of 20 min. or so.

Thanks for all the great comments on yesterdays image, I'm glad to be back at the dailies after a long & busy summer

Bill Pador > 8/26/09 - Hi Everyone, I finally got out into the field to run the NEW Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II XR Lens through it's paces. Needless to say after reading all the fantastic reviews and Editors Choice Awards this lens was winning I was excited to add this fine piece of glass to my collection. So here's a great shot I grabbed with it. I was out driving around up in the mountains by my home, it started off sunny but partly cloudy but the light was great even during mid afternoon. As I drove around I spotted this lake with cool walk bridges scattered around it. I shot this hand held from one of the bridges as a huge storm was coming in from the south east being pushed into the area while the violent hurricane "Bill" (how cool) was off our shores turning up the seas with a 16'-18' storm surge.
~ ~ "BEST VIEWED LARGE or X-LARGE" for best detail ~ ~

So I got out of the car and started grabbing shots of the incoming storm in the distance while having the sun shining from my back onto the tree line making it glow. This lens is SUPER SHARP, Auto Focus is blazing fast and spot on even in low light and the colors & detail it produces are amazing, all for a mear $449 Shipped to my door from B&H Photo.

I'll be posting more shots taken with this lens in the following days so be sure to check them out, they all turned out pretty awesome IMO. I'll be writing a full review on the lens in my blog some time next week and will post a note when it's finished for any one interested in buying this fantastic wide angle f/2.8 glass.

I also just purchased the Brand New 'HONL PHOTO" Professional Series Flash Accessory System (Light Modifiers) www.expoimaging.net that has been getting great reviews from Pros the world over and will be writing a review on them as well. I bought every piece in the system all at once so I'll be able to test it all out properly. Some really cool stuff to say the least !

Hope your all doing well and having a great week

Best Regards,
~Bill~
Bill Pador > Happy Thursday folks, Here's another rain drop image I shot while being bored out of my mind. The SB-900 lit the scene using high sync @ 1/800 sec. & it's -7' downward tilt function which is really handy for close ups, just be sure to take your lens hood off or you'll get a nice little shadow on your image LOL (lesson learned for me :) I used my Tamron 90mm Macro for this one and there is very little post on this besides a Standard Levels adjustment & keyline frame. It's hand held and shows a reflection of the thron bush from yesterday's image and some great bokeh.

Bill Pador > "Rain Brings Life"
Good afternoon everyone, the tests with the SB-900 are going well and I am having a blast with it. Hopefully I'll have the full review done in a few days for your reading pleasure.

I took this shot yesterday while being bored out of my mind. So I decided to sit outside in the cold damp rain on my front porch shooting some bird shots when I noticed my thorn bush presenting some cool water images. So I broke out the Tamron 90mm Macro and started playing with some off camera flash. I have a bunch more images to go through but figured I'd post one for today's POD. I really liked the way the thorn was encased by the water drop and the reflection of the bush behind it coming through and the new flower poking out of the branch drinking up the water for life (hence the title).

I'll put the other shots in my EXTRAS gallery in a little while and add a link here for viewing. Today's weather is again cold damp & cloudy but the rain has held off so far. April showers bringing May flowers stinks but the beauty it brings will be worth it in the end I guess. Enjoy your day folks !

 The Oil & Water Challenge...03/17/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Oil & Water"
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, MSpencer, Trevlan, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result:I wanted my Interpretation of Water & Oil to look a little different but for good reason. This started out as a simple project of using one of those free giveaways you get at the bank like a sand timer but it has water with green & blue colored oil in it and you flip it over and watch the oil drop to the bottom after being filtered through a small hole. I took a few macro shots of that which started off looking just like most of you who have glasses with oil & water in them and then headed into CS3. By the time I was finished I went for a creation to make the oil & water look like Old Faded Graffiti on a wall in the shape of the old 'CRAZY 8 BALL" that you used to make wishes or ask questions over when we were kids and that contained oil & water to make the answer block float around in it. All the color circles you see are the oil falling downward in front of the lens which made this pattern of colored circles and then I laid out a bunch of layers with different textures and a brick wall and used some creative techniques to get the final effect & look. I also inlaid some shapes and faint faded writing too. Well this is one way to make Oil & Water stick to a wall right!

Bill Pador > "The Snow Covered Bridge"
I was torn between 2 lovers, oh geez that was a song excuse me, I was torn between 2 IMAGES today for my POD but I finally decided on this one for some reason, a coin toss really but I did put the other one in my EXTRAS gallery because it was good enough to make me flip a coin.

This little walk bridge has appeared before in a past gallery but I drove past it today and had to stop and shoot it at a different angle and it also had this fresh snow from last night on it. I made it a selective color to bring the viewers eye into the bridge by using foreground color in the weeds and added a custom soft focus filter I developed some time ago and use quite often which works well on images like this where there is a lot of thin branches to FLUFF it up a bit.(*as always B&W was created using NIK Silver Efex Pro)

Thanks SO much for all your wonderful comments on yesterdays challenge shot. I've received several email's on WHERE I got the 'Jack Daniels' Coffee but as I stated I got it as a gift and have no idea where it was purchased. I would assume it probably came from one of those gourmet food shops you find in the malls. I don't even remember who gave it to me LOL. I[m gonna open it up tomorrow and give it a try and will report back on it's taste ! (*PS I was informed by Kre8ive that the JD coffee is actually cured in the JD barrels after they are done making whisky so it should have an interesting taste - yummy!)

Have a Great day folks and keep on snapping, I guess winter isn't all that bad now - Check that it still sucks !!

PS: To see the image that lost the coin toss please VISIT MY EXTRA GALLERY HERE It has some really cool lines throughout the image & that's why I liked it so much !
