8/7/09 - Hey Folks, Thought I would drop a daily submission in since I have been lacking by way of summer vacation for myself and not staying on top of my dailies lately. All is well & business is booming which is a good thing, I just needed to take some time for myself lately and thought a few weeks of relaxing would do me good since I rarely had any time for myself in the last 6 months besides shooting & PP day & night.
I took this shot of a fire engine passing by at the Gooch's Garlic Motorcycle Run and then created a single exposure HDR out of it. I just love the in your face colors and sereal look it has.
* NEW EQUIPMENT - I recently added some new gear to my bag and thought I would share a little about 2 of them. 1st is the TAMRON 17-50m f/2.8 XR Di II SP wide angle lens. For those of you looking for a GREAT wide angle that is f/2.8 across the lens length this lens should be considered for many reasons. It's TACK SHARP from lowest to highest aperture, build quality is excellent, it's light & FAST and you can not beat the price of (US)$449.00 SHIPPED from B&H Photo NY City. I ordered it yesterday and it was in my hands at 1:30pm today, talk about fast service and that was with the FREE ground shipping they offered. I purchased it mainy for low light indoor Wedding shots, Sweet 16's and Landscape. I haven't used it on a job yet but messing around the house with it I can tell you this is one awesome lens and something I've been looking for to fill the gap of my lens collection for this very important piece of my business. Check out all the high mark reviews by doing a google search and then head over to B&H Photo www.bhphotovideo.com to grab one ! I'll be doing a full review on my blog after it gets some field testing.
The other piee of gear I purchased is the BlackRapid RS-5 Strap, again no testing in the field yet but I must say this is now my all time favorite strap I have used. It enables you to carry your camera slung on your HIP instead of it hitting your chest and being in a bad spot for rapid employment of your camera so you don't miss the shot. You can also purchase a second strap and a small hooking device to carry 2 cameras with you and not having them bang into each other. It's the best $65 I've spent on a strap and I have tried them all LOL You can see more of this awesome strap @ www.blackrapid.com (Their located in Washington State)
OK That's it for now, hope you are all doing well and I look forward to getting my dailies up in a timely manner from now on unless work gets in the way again.
